Our Pastor ~ Rev. Gerry Piper
Rev. Gerry Piper, born in New Hampshire, came to Vermont as a teacher after graduating from Plymouth State College. After teaching for a decade, Gerry earned a Master’s degree from Saint Michael’s College.
With ten years of experience and a higher degree, Pastor Gerry was not able to get back into education, thus, realized the call into ministry. As the lay leader at Wesley Methodist in Waterbury, Gerry served as the summer worship leader for the South Duxbury, Vt. Church for numerous years.
The next step into pastoral ministry was to obtain a local pastor’s license, which was achieved at Drew University and used to serve Northfield, Bristol and the Middlebury, Vermont Charge.
When the time came to get a theology degree, Gerry became the student pastor in Lunenburg, Gilman and East Concord, Vt., traveling back and forth for three years to Boston University. After receiving this degree, Rev. Piper became the full-time Pastor of the Northeast Kingdom Methodist Charge and served God and these communities for a total of fourteen years.
The next part of the journey placed Pastor Gerry in Orleans, Vt. for three years… and beginning in 2007, has served the West Danville UMC.
